Verizon has been having some trouble keeping the DROID Incredible in stock ever since the HTC handset made its debut back in April and it looks like the shortage will be lasting for awhile still.  Verizon customers who have ordered the DROID Incredible and are waiting for it to arrive in the mail are due for a little extra disappointment.  A note is being sent out to DROID Incredible customers who were promised a shipping date before June 28th, informing them that the handset could delayed up to an additional 7 days.

The main reason for the handset shortage and shipping delays for many of HTC’s new handsets is due to a shortage in supply of the Samsung AMOLED display.  Samsung production is expected to catch up with demand by mid-summer but HTC may be looking elsewhere in the meantime in order to fulfill orders from their customers.

As a “thank you” for their patience, Verizon is sending out $25 gift cards.  Verizon has not indicated that supply issue will be resolved any time soon so don’t be surprised if we see another note like this in the next few weeks go out to customers who were give ship dates in mid July.
